KRA Bingo Policy (effective Sept.2015)
The single largest source of funds raised to support the Kingston Ringette Association
is through the charity bingos staffed by KRA volunteers at Treasure Chest Bingo
Association. Approximately $11,000 is raised annually, or about $250 per player.
Without these funds registration fees would need to increase dramatically.
In order to effectively and equitably fill the bingo time slots that Treasure Chest
Bingo Association assigns to the KRA, a new policy has been enacted,
effective immediately, which states:
Each player (U8 to U19) must supply a ready (trained) and willing volunteer for at
most two bingo shifts (2 hours each) per season. The volunteer can be family or
friend, but must be 18+ years of age.
A $100 cheque post-dated to March 31, 2016 is required with registration. It will
only be cashed in the event this obligation is not met.
Exceptions to this policy may be granted at the discretion of the President or
A short training session hosted at & by Treasure Chest Bingo must be completed
before a time slot can be worked. If training has been received in the past from
TCBA (for KRA or otherwise) it usually does not need to be repeated. Training
is arranged by contacting the KRA bingo coordinator (currently Ron Hawkins) at
. Training should be arranged at the earliest convenience
so a volunteer is ready when called upon.
Players who have a parent(s) on the executive or who is a member of a bench staff
are exempt from this obligation.
Time slots will be assigned randomly. If a volunteer cannot work an assigned slot
it is their responsibility to facilitate a trade with another volunteer.
Only after exhausting this contingency should the scheduling issue be escalated to
the KRA bingo coordinator.
Bingos will be assigned in the following manner:
1. Each six month period, 20 player names will be randomly selected to fill out
the bingo roster. note - TCBA allows a maximum of 20 people on the roster in a
six month period.
2. Each of these 20 people will be randomly assigned one or two bingo slots.
(approx. 30 slots per six month period to be filled)
3. These 20 people will not be required to do bingos in the following six month
A $20 KRA credit is offered for each 2 hour bingo shift worked. This credit can
be used towards KRA fees or equipment purchased through the KRA.
If you are interested in working more bingos than you are otherwise obligated
please speak to the bingo coordinator. The $20 credit applies to each and every
The introduction of this bingo policy is in direct response to the critical
importance The Kingston Ringette Association places on these fundraising dollars.
Without these funds registration fees could quite conceivably become unaffordable
for many families.

Bullying and Harassment Policy:
To All KRA Members:
Please be advised that at the Kingston Ringette Association has unanimously approved the adoption of Ontario Ringette Association's Bullying and Harassment Policy.
Everyone needs to read through it: parents, players, officials, coaches and volunteers.
It is very important to know that KRA and ORA both take these violations very seriously and infractions to this policy will be met with zero tolerance.
Kingston Ringette prides itself on providing a welcoming and bully-free environment for all members.
If you are a victim of bullying, harassment or hazing you need to file a formal complaint with KRA President (Jillian Burford-Grinnell) or Vice-President (David Bettschen).
A formal written complaint must include:
- date of incident
- time of incident
- details surrounding the incident
